Description

Built in 1937, the little church of the Annunciation (Evangelismos) is located on the provincial road that enters Pyrgos from the west (by the outer square). In the courtyard, there is a hall for ecclesiastical displays. On the eve of the Annunciation after the Divine Liturgy, two processions begin, one from here, another from the church of the Virgin Mary (Panagia) of Kasteli. The two processions meet outside the Pyrgos taverna. According to tradition, at this point the Virgin Mary once performed a miracle, protecting the villagers from a big epidemic.
