Description

Path 1 is a wide cobblestone path that ascends to the highest peak on the island (at 567 meters altitude) and the monastery of the Prophet Elias, and then descends (on ancient cobblestones) to Mesa Vouno, leading to the archaeological site of Ancient Thera. This is the point, at the monastery of the Prophet Elias, where the path from Pyrgos ends. From here to Pyrgos, the distance is 1,600 meters, 45-50 minutes.
