Description

The church of the Virgin Mary (Panagia) in Firostefani, with its icon of the Virgin Mary, was the object of a dispute between Orthodox and Catholic Christians during the last century, until the believers of both dogmas were allowed to worship there. The church suffered damage in the 1956 earthquake, but the Virgin Mary's icon was unharmed.
