Description

The church of the Good Virgin Mary or Dormition of the Virgin Mary (Panagia tu Kalu, Kimisis tis Theotoku) is very close to Pori beach in the eastern part of the island. It was built after the end of the volcanic activity of the period 1649-1650 AD (the "great Evil"), which led to the appearance of the undersea Kolumbo (or Columbo, etc.) volcano.
